Speaking on the future of Osimhen in recent weeks as links regarding a new deal continue to circulate, Napoli sporting director Mauro Meluso said: “We are working behind the scenes. There are lots of reports because obviously people have to talk, but we work in a reserved fashion and we will see in the next few weeks.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Osimhen is currently on the verge of signing a new deal with reigning Serie A champions Napoli, which would extend his stay at the club until 2028. However, the new deal would likely include a release clause of €130m, which Carlo Ancelotti's side would be willing to part ways with to sign the player. Madrid are eyeing a big money signing to bolster their attacking options as they head into the 2024-25 season, as they look to provide England international Jude Bellingham with further reinforcements.
