Aitana Bonmati is reportedly set to snub Chelsea's interest and sign a new Barcelona deal that will make her the world's highest-paid female player.

According to BBC Sport, the 26-year-old is close to agreeing a new contract that will extend her stay beyond 2025. Chelsea have been credited with interest in the Spain international but after several months of negotiations, Bonmati is edging closer to signing a new, lucrative deal.

The Barca academy product has gone onto become one of the best female players in the world and now it seems she is edging closer to a contract that reflects her value. She helped the Catalan outfit win an historic continental quadruple last season, with the midfielder named the Most Valuable Player of both the Champions League final and the tournament. Keeping her would be a statement from intent from Barca.
